LETS FREAK OUT A TOWN IN NEW ENGLAND

At least twice per year you could count on the "Benefit Man" being up on stage playing his Lyra or harmonica. And what a great voice..he's always been ready to raise money for the local food bank or a neighbor who needs it.

For over 20 years the benefit man has done this

Now it's his turn...

Our Benefit Man has been diagnosed with inoperable lung/brain cancer

He has no insurance, has been unable to work Spoke to his wife this week...doesn't look as good as it used to...he may be too ill to attend so we're starting the benefit at 7 pm

We live in a small town in Maine. Not a lot of money here. You could totally freak this whole town out with your generosity.

Haven't heard from the venue that made the generous offer earlier...looking into the place we should have held it in the first place. The bar where Benefit Man held all of his benefits.We were just in awe of the donation the other man had offered...The sound system fell through due to 'nitz' attack

Back to reality.

It'll definitely be held in Old Orchard Beach, Maine and the date will be mid March. Some major local bands have been talking amongst themselves and this could wind up being one heck of a night.

Talking to Pete from Road Scholars...maybe some accoustic..maybe some screaming guitar... He's saying he'll cover the PA problem by offering his system. Can't go wrong with a Macky

If it winds up at Referee's there won't be the same 3 hour time limit that we had to deal with at the other venue...it may just go all night long!

We appreciate all your help so far. It's all going to him that night...

Well it's going to be at Referee's which is actually better! Referee's is where Benefit Man held almost every single benefit over the years.

They've given us 2 dates end of March to work with.

Now it's organizing the main musicians time! Yay!!!

Remember that this money will be handed to him and his wife in front of pretty much everyone in town PLUS.

To be able to say that a large portion came from total strangers who appreciated him for all the kindnesses he's performed over his life for other total strangers would be phenomenal!

'BEN-MAN" held a benefit at LEAST once a year these past 20 years

for the local food pantry

Helping out hundreds, perhaps thousands of people that he's never met

If anyone deserves a hand it's him

Something I neglected to mention...His wife has spent her life taking care of others as well. She has worked in the same nursing home for over 20 years, forming personal relationships with staff as well as patients. I can only pray that when/if my time comes to reside in a nursing home, someone like her will be employed at it. She's a gem as well.

I spoke with her yesterday and she is thrilled about the benefit. To her it will be a way of telling 'BEN-MAN' how much he's meant to everyone with how he has spent his life.

Benefit is to be held at Referees

We'll start right after happy hour so Ben can attend at least part of the night

Sunday March 15th

People are amazing. Thank you all for all the help. Katie has offered up the double roll tickets so there will be a 50/50 raffle and she's also talked the owner into hiring the bouncers for the front and back doors instead of us doing it.

We printed up a bunch of flyers and an old friend of Ben stopped by Ref's , picked them up and aparantly plastered Ben's old Portland neighborhoods with them. Thank you (Mike?) we're hearing a lot of feedback from that effort...so much in fact, we think we may need Ref's second bar to handle the overflow! Lets keep our fingers crossed for that one!

Pete has offered to be there and to share his PA. Gotta love this dude. Be sure all of you to return every Sunday and attend his open jam...IT'S BACK!

It's only a buck, not a big deal..for a dollar you should feel better than before..i just sent five dollars last week because this sweet young girl in wisconson...her little sister was in a car accident....people think these things are scams...this one is not.....we are real people with a real friend...with a real wife and a real son and a real daughter and a real young grandson and a buncha real cancer in head and chest...

So we're going to put this benefit on locally and i started to think...i'm sitting next to this machine that will connect me with potentially millions of people. Well I say back to myself...well, your website is lucky to see a hundred folks a month and we only have a month to get this thing set up...If each of you gives one dollar, we can help him...i just know we can.... Because this is not set up on my website you're just on my website reading about it.

It stands alone and this way I'm able to drive thousands of people a week towards it....dont' feel like 'yeah, she'll get $50....if I kept it on Uncle Jeffrey's site, probably you'd be right.
